Isaac at 6 weeks

Isaac at six weeks is getting more and more alert and even responding to the sign language we've been showing him. He is about 13.5lbs right now and eating WELL! There is picture of him holding his head up on his own during tummy time. But, I have to say...he sure is Daddy's boy. He gets to excited when Dan gets near him its so cute!

Snow prince

New homemade blanket from Lori and Fritz

One step forward 2 steps back

I have to say, I thought Isaac was regressing a little two days ago when he kept getting cranky during the night and started waking up again hour after hour. But what little faith did I have! Last night, I was so tired from kickboxing, I figure I'll catch a snooze early before the baby goes to bed so I can be prepared for the night feedings. I went to be before nine while Isaac hung out with Daddy. At 1:30am I woke up wonder if Dan had already taken the midnight feeding...What actually happened was that Isaac had slept from 9:15- 1:30am with no interpreting!!! I am so excited! He then slept from his 1:30am feeding till 5:15am...I am so excited for this new time slot. We'll see if this is his new routine, but it can be done!

The ears

Less elf-like than at birth, but still resembling Uncle Jake. Beautiful lobes, though, don't you think?

Isaac's 4 weeks old!!

It has been 4 weeks since Isaac was born. We can't believe what a difference we feel already..The overwhelming sensation of having a newborn is finally sinking in...I guess this babysitting job is not ending anytime soon. We had so much fun with our family and friends visiting and helping out!! Thank you sooo much! Isaac is feeding every 2-3 hours and last night had a stretch of 4 hours between feedings! He slept from 9:30pm-1am. I woke up asking Dan if he had fed him at 11 and Dan was like no..I couldn't believe it! Here are some more pictures..ps-our son loves his bath time. He sits in the tub like he is the king of the world!

First Christmas

Grandma Solverson went absolutely nuts with the Christmas outfits today. Notice the matching blankets, stockings, and trousers. Poor kid. It was otherwise an uneventful day... we took a nap, then we took a walk, then just hung out.

Bathing

With a slippery, slimy baby, bath time can be quite an ordeal, especially when they start pooping and peeing all over the place (sorry no pictures of that!) And with grandparents in the background scrutinizing your every action, paranoid that you're not supporting his head or you're being too rough or you're gonna burn him, it almost convinces you that you're doing it all wrong. Luckily, Isaac likes his hot tub.

Gon-gon & Po-po arrive for first Christmas

Isaac's first Chinese lessons have begun with the arrival of Grandma and Grandpa Yang. They disembarked the plane with a suitcase-full of Chinese food -- veggies, meats, and goodies -- "postpartum sustenance" as Jo calls it, and they've already initiated the cooking frenzy.

Isaac's first week home

We came home a little over a week ago...I have to say the sleepless nights are the worse! But praise the Lord that we have awesome family and friends that freely gives up their sleep so that we can catch a few hours of unbroken rest. Dan is back at work and adjusting well. Its so awesome to see him interact with Isaac. He is such a good dad. I think being a parent also make you realize what a team you are as a married couple. We are definitely closer than before and Isaac is a blessing. Until next time..please pray that he'll get into a sleep routine.:)

Visitors

The day Jo was discharged from the hospital, Grandma Maureen and Aunt K-bone came to the rescue. Rescuing the parents who are dying of sleepless nights. Today, God-mother Muriel came to help. We are so blessed with many people helping us during this exciting time!

Surprised

I'm wondering if other red-heads have experienced the same degree of recessivity regarding physical traits. After a thorough comparative analysis of Jo's baby pictures, I have discovered that Baby Isaac completely resembles only Jo, and that there is no hint of me. Top is Baby Isaac. Bottom is Baby Jo. See the difference? I don't...I mean, I'm having a difficult time finding even some eye folds or pronounced nose bridge or light eyes or... too excited in general to think about the issue any further at this time. Just thought Dad should post his two cents.

Humm....

Well, it seems my 38th weeks has come and going by SLOWLY...Dan and I are so anxious for this baby to come, we can't wait anymore! Everyone including my midwife thought I would of deliver by now. Oh well, as long as the baby is happy in limited uterine space its alright with me.
Today, it SNOWED in the great Northwest. I thought I had moved away from the snow. But here I am studying for boards and enjoying the white flurries outside. It's not cold like Chicago, but definitely an interesting sight. On the news, they are calling it "severe weather warning" and people are running out to get snow tires and chains. Dan and I can't believe it!
We'll have more baby updates..Hopefully soon!

Our First Christmas Tree

Here I am at 38 weeks and counting...we had a great Thanksgiving at Patty and Charlie's...the "Cranberry Pink" was definitely something new and tasty. Our bags are packed and waiting for me to pop. Here we are with our first Christmas tree. After being married for two and a half years, Dan finally let me get a tree!!!! We didn't realize how big the tree was until we open the bundle when we got home!

37 weeks and Counting

Here I am at 37 weeks. I know, I look like a whale and feel like I'm about to pop. My patients at work kept making comments if I'm 3 weeks overdue! I am feeling well overall, thank God! But do require a lot of sleep. We are hoping this baby would come early, because I can't wait anymore! I can't wait to see what he looks like!
