My baby barfed in my mouth and I almost threw up

Lately, Isaac and I have been playing this flying game where I slowly lift him, with my hands on his stomach, over my head and then we make faces at eachother. He loves it and he's so cute. Or so I thought.
Little Isaac lost his wings after he covered my entire upper body with a monster vomit the other day. Check out the picture. This was not "just a little spit up," it was the emptying of his entire stomach contents on my face, a large volume of curdled milk and stomach acid that landed directly into my eyes and mouth. As I proceeded to an urgent shower, Jo laughed and took pictures. I nearly gagged to death from smell alone, not to mention the taste.

for the record, judy and lester, here's where we left off:

tan theta = height treeline / distance to beach

and,

so, if you put in the numbers,

tan theta = 60 / 300
theta = 11,
then,
property drop = sin 11 * 110

therfore,
grade is 11 degrees and
estimated property drop is 20.9ft, just a little short of potentially maximum 22ft structure in front.

Well, Isaac is sleeping right now..in our bed..weird, I put him down in his crib and he woke up within 15 min..so I put him in our bed with all the blankets and pillows out of the way and he is fast asleep...I wonder if he knows that his crib is on a hard mattress..this morning I put him in bed with me, while I snoozed a little bit more..and he slept for 2 more hours?! Does anyone get that with their child? they sleep better in your bed?

Easter weekend

We just got back from Chicago this past weekend...it was a short 4 day weekend packed with friends and family. I am so glad Dan got to get on the standby and fly in with me. I was actually getting a bit nervous thinking about bringing Isaac with me on the plane by myself.
First stop...Sarah's house...
My friend, Sarah, from loyola, picked us up from O'hare and went to her new home in Wheaton. Judy and baby Alyssa came and met up with us. It has been a long time since I last saw them. Dan was a bit sleeping being post=call, while the girls chatted and goo goo ga ga over the babies. Thanks Sarah for organizing everything and driving us around..we really appreciated it..and so glad to see you!!!
That night we went to my house in Lisle, IL and hung out with my parents and the Burks.
Second stop..Stall Residence...
I've been so looking forward to see Sally. Sally and us have been friends for over 8 years now..we don't talk on a regular basis, but Dan and I stalk her blog everyday. We were so excited to meet up again. It's like we were part of each other's past, present, and hopefully the future, its great how God just kept us all together. When we met up she had a great lunch made..Tim helped with the chopping, and baby Nathan was sooo cute! It felt like we never lost touch and picked up right where we left off. The other day, we were just telling Elizabeth and Mike this dolphin thing Sally use to do on at the apartment...hahaha
After our visit, the weekend went into high gear...from my sister's wedding shower to Rockford get togethers...Michael joined the shower with his often "inapproprate comments" and may getting excited about all her gifts..it was nice to be back with the family...
On the Solverson side, Dan's brothers and sister-in-laws finally got to meet Isaac. It's really neat to see them meet. I'm not sure if Isaac knew everything that was going on, but the pictures were so cute with his uncles and aunts. We had couple of relatives and friends who came in as well...Thanks Taylors for stopping by even after your trip back...you must be tired...Lester and Judy, thanks for dropping by and hanging out. Bob and Melissa..it was really nice seeing you guys..Melissa, you looked great! The Godfreys..thanks for taking your time to come a visit and the husbands for babysitting:) And all the uncles and aunts--you have now entered into a new realm--the GREAT uncle and aunts..thanks for all your gifts and time to come out and visit..

Ahhh....Friends!

So, I've been thinking...the next few pictures you'll see is Penny, Stella, and the cute little Emma. The cool part of it all is that I knew Penny and Stella when I was in high school while they were older, cooler girls in college who were friends with my youth pastors...now fast forward 7 years...Penny and Ted got married and moved to the northwest, while I completely lost touch with Stella...and here we are now all in the northwest and getting to know them. It's amazing how God has just been blessing us with friends...
Just couple of months ago, we started hanging out with Mike and Elizabeth Stall, whom Mike, I went to high school with, and Elizabeth was in biology with Dan at UIUC...whom are all related to Sally, who was my really good friend and still is in college! I can't believ all those connections...

oh, and the Godfrey girls...i've been talking to Heather and Kara a lot more with baby questions...so what's my point...it's amazing how GOd places people in your lives at different points, yet, ultimately they come together in the end..it's great to have friends...

On another note...little Isaac is now offically eating solids..sqush for the second day...today is his 4 months check up..will update on that later.
PS Grace Zuercher--I just found out from Stacy that our sons have very similiar name...
Isaac Tien--En Zuercher & Isaac Zau-En Solverson...I honestly did know about the middle name...:)

A Day of Firsts..

So..Isaac is going to be 4 months in two days..and he is already changing rapidly...last night, we were feeding him with a bottle and he held the bottle by himself and even knew to put it in his mouth! Then, Dan had him try to sit up, which you'll see the pictures, he is really strong for a young baby. We have now progressed to two meals of rice cereal a day, and Isaac is loving it! He would open his mouth so wide his head would lean forward. Lets see..and how, he sort of can copy our sounds. We were making clicking noises with our tongue the other day and few minutes later, Isaac would start clicking with his tongue..it was really cute. I know i'm totally bias, but my child is just TOO DARN CUTE!

April 1st!

Today is actually one year anniversary to the day that Dan and I found out we are expecting. I can't believe a year later who have Isaac blessing our lives. It has been great with him. He has been so much more interactive and wanting attention...he is so sweet!
On another note...so Dan called me on his way back from work this morning telling me he had cracked his front tooth...I was freaking out because he would need to find a dentist and somehow get the chip fixed...he was telling me how he need to call a dentist or may have to go to a civilian dentist is Madigan is not open. When he walked in the house, it looked like he had a whole front tooth missing! I was shocked while Dan laughed and cracked up barely getting the two words out ---"april fools!"

Isaac is online!

Yes, it is true. Isaac is offically online. The other day, Dan and I got Isaac a gmail account. Isaac.solverson@gmail.com. We thought, in ten years when he wants gmail account, he won't be able to personalize since more people will be using it. So why not get him one now...in fact, why not get gmails for our possible future kids. We also got gmails for the names Hannah and Sofie since we really like those girls names. Yes, we sound a little crazy..but we are prepare our children for cyberspace:)

First Dip

Isaac took his first plunge at the local YMCA sporting his new trunks. He seemed content throughout the doggy paddling experience, but I think overall Mom enjoyed it more than he did. Also, notice how the facial expressions between Mom and so are nearly identical. And she says he looks like me? Whatever.

More firsts

Jo's breaking an ancient law of pediatrics by starting Isaac on solids at 3.5 months, which is just shy of the "approved" 4-6 month starting window. The eventful moment was of course captured on film and each bite of rice cereal was closely monitored for any facial expression that could potentially represent opinon. I'd say the first feeding was an overall grimace. Now Isaac weighs over 17lbs, which is well over the 100th percentile for weight for age. We're hoping this complex carb diet will slim him down. Just kidding. In other news, we visited the zoo this past weekend with some friends (and their babies)... Check out our stroller mafia, caught wheeling between the peacocks and the penguins.

Helping Uncle Charlie

What started as a simple remodeling task, "Honey, I want a new stove," has turned into a full-throttle renovation at Aunt Patty and Uncle Charlies (Isaac's godparents here in Tacoma) house. And the project hit its climax this past weekend with the arrival of specialty windows from Minnesota. The picture does not do justice, but check out the scaffolding set-up, the gaping hole we cut in the house to fit that whopping window, not to mention the extension hole we had to cut to acutally maneuver the window into the house through the door. Erecting onlt one window was a full-day's task, and there's another of the same size! We'll update with progress pictures as spring cleaning progresses...

OK, enough about the "obliterating 75% of our first-born child's life so far" topic.  Yes, I erased 900 megabytes or a quarter-year's worth of memories.  Obviously something went wrong since my intentions were to back them up.  Time for a subject change.  Does anyone want to run the North Olympic Discovery Marathon with us on June 11th this year?  www.marathonguide.com

Catch-up Time

So, its been awhile since I last posted...humm..things has been going well...Yesterday, I took my NP boards and praise the Lord, I passed. The nerve-racking part of it all is that we find out if we passed or not right after we finish the exam. When I hit the last question at 150, my heart started to pound and my eyes went blurry. I couldn't even read if I passed or not, I had to go out to grab my stuff and asked the ladies at the desk to read it to me. But, I am so thankful that God has really blessed me throughout grad school and this board exam. He has really blessed me!
On to another issue...well, lets just say...DADDY ERASED THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF ISAAC'S LIFE! Dan wanted to be the memory keeper by backing up all our photos on the computer since we rarely print them out anymore with the digital camera. He had backup everything up to 2006. Well, he accidentally erased the whole file...all of Isaac's pictures, our Taiwan trip was down the drain! Good thing, I actually printed out some and we have this blog. Poor child...according to Dan, now, Isaac won't have the first child syndrome, cuz, we just caught him up to his future siblings of not having the most pictures since he is the first born! NOT FUNNY DAN!
So here I am the day after boards relaxing and taking pictures of Isaac like crazy! Speaking of my sweet little boy, he is so happy! He is now doing this thing with his tongue..like keep sticking it out...not sure what it is..maybe he is soon to be ready for solids! He also started grabbing things. The other day he started grabing these mobiles from the bouncy chair and would make this sound. He was so excited it was so sweet. I can't believe how each day they are just growing and learning so quickly!

Sweet Surprise

Dan was blessed with a day off from ICU. His resident called him off this morning, which means Isaac and I get to have Daddy with us all day! The days was uneventful..Dan worked on research, I studied for my boards, Isaac ate, played and pooped. Dan had Isaac with him while I went to go workout. They picked me up at the Y and I came home to a surprise romantic candle light chicken piccata dinner with sparkling almond wine all set up! I was so surprised...I am so blessed with a husband like him. He was so thoughtful. He had made dinner with one hand and Isaac in the other! Although, the surprise did some with some drawbacks, Dan forgot to feed Isaac and was wondering why he was so fussy. He held Isaac as he cooked and wanted to get the dinner ready forgetting Isaac might be hungry. But the baby is now well fed and sleeping...while mom is buzzed from the wine and smiling like crazy! Love you honey!

Chinese Hot pot with the Turpins

Brian and Carrie, Dan's friends from med school came over Saturday and had a fun chinese hot pot (fondue) with us...they also watched every single movie Dan made, which Dan wouldn't say it, but it made his day! Its always so nice to see familiar faces..too bad they didn't have their clothes and contact stuff, otherwise, we would of have had a slumber party!

Thoughts...

This past Sunday our pastor spoke on reconciliation...not only in the aspect of those who offended you or you have offended, but on simply reaching out those people who does not know God. I really encouraged me of God's calling for us on missions...to reach out those who doesn't know the awesome news of God. I am so excited for the mission field! Pray for us..because we want to be sent out...We want our kids to know that our world is not just the US...but there are countries of people suffering..people who doesn't know Christ. We are fortunate to be raised in a society with freedom of religion and speech so we can freely love and worship our God...

On a lighter note...Isaac has been sleeping through the night for the past three nights. He is so sweet..God has really blessed us with a beautiful child with a joyful spirit. Praise God!
